My painting practice began in 2020 when the world shut down. As an untrained artist with a Ph.D. in business psychology, I am learning to let a cerebral, outward focus soften into an intuitive practice rooted in inner awareness.
Working with oil and cold wax allows me to get lost in the materials; building luminous, textured surfaces that hold traces of what is revealed and what remains hidden. These layers, sometimes mixed with collage, invite viewers into an emotional encounter with depth—an invitation to sense the history, tension, and mystery embedded within each piece.
My influences include Buddhist teachings, landscapes, and the interplay of strength and subtlety found in both mythic and everyday life. The power of women who came before me also fuels my work, especially the creation of goddess forms that honor their courage and resilience. Found objects—often scrap metal—settle into my compositions as anchors, echoing both the raw histories we inherit and the ones we shape.
As a full-time artist represented by nationally recognized Ambleside Gallery in Greensboro, NC, my work—like all art at its core—centers on one intention: to evoke feeling
